Four Types of Travel for Older Adults

August 26, 2022

Are you planning an upcoming adventure? At this point, you may have traveled to various corners of the world, or maybe you preferred to stay closer to home. To choose your next destination, you may want to consider what type of vacation sounds good. Choosing a destination is required, but so is how to travel to that destination. Have you considered an all-inclusive vacation? Would you like a vacation theme such as national parks? What about choosing a trip based on the climate? Is it time to check off one of the bucket list items? When you know your monthly expenses while living in an all-inclusive senior home, such as Beacon Crest Senior Living, it is easier to budget for luxurious vacations. Let’s break down the different types of excursions.

ALL-INCLUSIVE
Most all-inclusive trips do not include flights in the price. What exactly does an all-inclusive trip include? Your price when you book your trip includes lodging, meals, activities, unlimited drinks, and entertainment. Some choose to go to a resort like Sandals. Others prefer to book a journey on a cruise ship like Princess Cruise Lines. Why do travelers choose this option? Once you pay for your travel to the all-inclusive location, everything is effortlessly available to you. You will not need to calculate that added excursion, the extra drink, or look for somewhere to buy lunch. Are you hoping for an evening of entertainment? They schedule the shows into your itinerary. If you prefer to relax once you start your vacation without worrying about further planning, all-inclusive trips might be the best option.
NATIONAL PARKS
Is there anything better than appreciating the majesty found in America’s National Parks? Are you a nature lover? Have you always wanted to spend more time outside? Does the idea of being in the hustle and bustle of a city make you feel tired just thinking about it? It is time for a nature-based vacation. Did you know congress designated sixty-three national parks protected by the national park service? The National Park organization reports the existence of four hundred twenty-three national park sites in the United States. These park sites cover more than eighty-four million acres! Yellowstone National Park was the nation’s first established in 1872 and remains the number one most visited park in the United States. Did you know that Delaware is the only state in the country without a national park? Are you looking for the largest national park? You will be heading to Alaska, where you will find seven of the ten largest national parks. Do you want to visit the newest national park? New River Gorge national park is in West Virginia. The latest addition to the national park service was on December 27, 2020. Whether you choose the newest, largest, or most popular park, taking time to get outside in nature will make a memorable vacation.
CLIMATE SPECIFIC GETAWAYS
Are you sensitive to the weather? Do you find it impossible to enjoy a getaway when you feel uncomfortable due to the climate? You might consider choosing the type of environment you would like to vacation in first, then the locations within that climate region. The most obvious choices are desert landscapes, ocean getaways, or mountain hideaways. What about a trip to New England in the fall to see the changing foliage? Many travelers plan their excursions during particular seasons because they are attracted to specific activities. For example, Park City is extremely popular in wintertime for snow-based activities. Do you live in a cold region? A trip to the arid desert in New Mexico might be the perfect trip to combat the winter blues. What about a trip to the ocean? No matter what time of year, the temperatures are moderate near the water. When you know what type of climate you feel the most comfortable in, the process of planning your next vacation becomes a breeze.
BUCKET LIST
Is it time to check some of those items off your bucket list? A bucket list is a list of several experiences an individual would like to experience during their lifetime. Did you always want to visit New York City to watch the ball drop? Does taking a safari in South Africa sound like your type of adventure? Do you wish to travel to Norway to view the Northern Lights? Some travelers enjoy a trip to the country where their ancestors originated. Bucket list travel is that trip you always wanted to take or that experience you always wanted to have. Well, there is no time like the present! One of the most amazing things about seeing the world is coming home and feeling grateful for all you have. When living in a senior home like Beacon Crest, you know the doors will always be open to welcome you home.
